Care and development of children in Luxembourg from 0 to 4 years old
Keeping a watchful eye on babies and caring for young children
Our nurseries located in Luxembourg, in the central and southern regions, welcome babies in the nursery from 3 months and up to 4 years old, the age when a child starts school. Please note that an adaptation period is also possible for infants who are 2 months old. School is compulsory in Luxembourg from the age of 4 years.
Our opening hours vary depending on the facility, but are spread over a 10-hour time period – without interruption – from 6.45 or 7.00 in the morning to 18.45 or 19.00 in the evening.
We are open every day of the year, Monday to Friday, except on public holidays in Luxembourg.
Our childcare centres have all received government accreditation as an “Approved education and childcare service”. Therefore, we are recognised as a CSA service provider and authorised to accept Childcare Service Vouchers (Chèques Service), which are deducted from our nursery rates.
As such, we provide your children with professional tailor-made supervision offered by specially trained teams who uphold our values.
Depending on the age groups, and in accordance with the accreditation issued to us by the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth, one child carer is responsible for:
- maximum 6 children up to 2 years old;
- maximum 8 children up to 4 years old.
Unique indoor areas specially designed to foster the development of babies and children
Our indoor childcare areas offer play and learning materials to encourage your children to develop their learning autonomously, each at their own pace. We don’t just offer care, we also nurture their curiosity!
Our facilities welcome your children in an environment designed to support their development and fulfilment. Our facilities are equipped with professional furniture, suitable for children of all ages, and foster the playful and basic values of the Montessori method.
The childcare areas are designed specifically to accommodate toddlers aged 0 to 2 and to encourage them to explore their motor skills independently.
The units created for children from 2 to 4 years old prepare your little ones for their next journey, the pathway to school. The educational material allows children to learn at their own pace and to explore the first intellectual notions of shapes, colours, time, language and much more!
Each nursery has a playful, original and exceptional indoor space. Depending on the model of each facility, Rockids offers Snoezelen rooms for the sensory exploration and relaxation of children, aromatic walls to discover new scents and introduce them to the joys of nature, as well as indoor cottages or hanging vegetable gardens!
Playgrounds for your children to thrive in the open air
Each of our nurseries and childcare facilities are equipped with an outdoor space specially designed for your little ones. The play equipment and the toys available encourage the development of psychomotricity through fun and experimentation. Come and discover our outdoor play areas, our vegetable gardens and barefoot trails. Your kids will love them!
Rockids invests in and is committed to the redevelopment of all of its gardens to install new landscaped areas for small children and new structures to encourage games and motor skills!
Specific themes are developed by our educators over 1 to 3 months to allow our children to discover life on a farm, the rhythm of the seasons or to explore the cosmos and many other activities!
Collective and individual activities are supervised or offered independently to allow children to develop in complete confidence, while receiving the full support of our educators.
Festive days are regularly organised by the teams trained in early childhood to discover international traditions such as carnival, Easter, Halloween, St. Nicolas and Christmas as well as the traditions which are specific to Luxembourg.
Activities are specially organised by our childcare staff to celebrate your child’s birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, the Galette des Rois (the King Cake) and Luxembourg’s National Day on 23 June.
Local partnership activities
Depending on the location of each individual childcare facility, the educational teams offer local partnerships with schools, libraries, retirement homes, charities, etc. Your children can discover and adapt to various environments outside their usual setting, and learn the benefits of living well together.
Multilingual activities to develop the integration of children
Luxembourg offers a wonderful multicultural environment for children and an incredible openness to other cultures and languages.
As a childcare facility, we encourage multilingualism and the integration of all mother tongues by promoting first and foremost cultural diversity in our teams. We seek to adapt the language profile of our educators according to the location of the nursery and the families of the children in the facility. Whether through the means of music, rhymes, stories, puppets, mimes and many more, we use every means to nurture language development!
Each day, the child is immersed in a multilingual environment thanks to exchanges in French, Luxembourgish, Portuguese, English, German, etc.
This particularity is also further strengthened by our adherence to the multilingual education programme developed by the Luxembourg government in Luxembourg nurseries. Children aged 1 to 4 can therefore benefit from free learning in French and Luxembourgish, in addition to practising their mother tongue.
Our cooperation with libraries and media libraries allows us to constantly renew the “reading” spaces and the “music” spaces of the living units offered to your children.
Learning about a varied and healthy dietAt Rockids, we know that nutrition is an important part of the development of your babies and toddlers. This is why we have chosen not to outsource catering. We prepare all meals in our own kitchen. Our cooks prepare delicious meals for your children every day with fresh and seasonal products. As such, our catering team uses a wide range of ingredients every day to introduce new flavours adapted to the age and nutritional development of your child.
