At Rockids, providing a healthy and balanced diet for the children we care for is one of our priorities. We believe that it is from a very young age that children acquire good eating habits. This is the basis for good health and good eating habits that they will maintain until adulthood.
It is therefore essential for us to serve them healthy and balanced food, made with quality products. We also want to provide them with a food education, complementary to the one they receive at home, so that they can taste different flavours and discover new foods. In this way, we provide them with all the nutrients they need to develop properly.
In order to offer the children home-made meals, prepared from healthy and quality products, we have chosen to internalise the preparation of the meals in our own kitchens located in Mamer.
In the preparation of our meals, we pay particular attention to the quality and traceability of the products. This is why our chef buys directly from local companies such as “Cobolux” or “Grosbusch”, holders of several quality labels.
Our cooks prepare delicious home-cooked meals for the children in our crèches and day care centres every day. The meals are then transported in suitable storage boxes to each facility at mealtimes. This ensures that the children can eat hot and healthy food.
Providing children with balanced and varied menus is an important factor in the healthy development and steady growth of children.
We serve the children varied menus, developed in collaboration with a nutritionist, in order to provide the children with all the nutrients they need for their development. Prepared primarily from fresh, local produce, the meals served respect the seasonality of the products. The children can thus regularly discover new flavours, in line with the rhythm of the seasons.
Menus are posted every week in our establishments
Current diets are respected (pork-free, vegetarian), as well as the avoidance of certain foodstuffs that are frequent sources of allergies (peanuts, lactose, seafood, etc.) to meet the needs of food intolerances.
In this way, children can become familiar with different tastes and foods. Through our culinary activities, we introduce them to typical Luxembourgish dishes and dishes from other cultures.
At Rockids, we believe that it is essential to teach children good eating habits from the time they start eating solid food.
Food diversification is an important stage in a baby’s life when they discover new foods, new textures and new tastes. It is important that this moment of discovery is shared between the child and its parents. This is why the first vegetable purées are given at home. Food education continues at the crèche, in conjunction with the parents.
Meals are offered in three textures in order to provide a diet adapted to the developmental stage of each child and according to the parents’ requests:
Respect for the child is our priority. The first spoon-feeds are given in the arms of the educator, in a physiological position, with a reassuring and comforting contact and exchange.
The meal is a privileged moment of conviviality and relaxation where children and adults meet around the table and share about different subjects. The children are invited to speak in a moment that is conducive to the building of relationships and to collective exchange, in a spirit of respect for each other.
Mealtimes in a group setting is also a time of learning that encourages exchanges between children and with the adult. By eating on its own using cutlery, surrounded by other children, your child learns to be independent.
Thanks to the fresh and seasonal products that are served, the child also develops an awareness of the seasons and discovers the products associated with them.
Through the meals, we also introduce the children to different cultures and the diversity of Luxembourg. On the occasion of the different national days in the world, traditional celebrations or birthdays, the children discover regional products or local culinary specialities.
In the spirit of multiculturalism, parents can also bring along culinary specialities from their own backgrounds.
